Meet the 2014-15 CommUniversity Assistants

The UO CommUniversity Assistant Program is a program in the Office of the Dean of Students that strives to foster positive living experiences and a greater sense of community in the neighborhoods surrounding the University of Oregon Campus. CommUniversity Assistants (CAs) are student leaders who act as liaisons to students living off-campus. They encourage students to become engaged members of their neighborhoods and provide support to create a value-added relationship between the University and the Eugene community. Throughout the year CAs develop outreach projects and projects and programs related to substance abuse prevention and off-campus support services. They reguarly attend neighborhood associations meetings and organize student events such as the UO Housing Fair and Chuck It For Charity.

We are pleased to announce the following members of
the CommUniversity team for 2014-15!

Kate Chrisinger is a graduate student in the University of Oregon’s Counseling Psychology program and serves as the CommUniversity Assistant Program Coordinator. She is from Seattle, WA. In her free time Kate enjoys spending time with friends, playing tennis and hiking. Kate is excited to be working with the CommUniversity Program this year. She looks forward to helping connect students living off-campus with resources, and helping to promote relationships between students and the greater Eugene community.

Annika Gustafsson is a senior physics and math major in the Clark Honors College. She lives in South University neighborhood. When not studying for classes or working, you can find Annika teaching Group X classes at the Rec. She also loves to be an active member of her community and hopes to spread that to other students during this school year as a CommUniversity Assistant. She plans to organize multiple community service projects that give students an opportunity to give back to their neighborhoods and leave a positive impact.

Lindsey Brown is a senior Political Science major from Anchorage, Alaska. She transferred to Oregon her sophomore year and has quickly become very passionate about the university. Through the CommUniversity Assistant Program she is focused on enhancing the quality of the transition of students moving from on- to off-campus living by playing an active role in the Housing Fair as well as continuing to grow the Off-Campus Services Program within the university. She has experienced that transition from on to off-campus living and can't wait to make changes to better that transition for other Ducks.

Char Zoller is an MBA student at the University of Oregon's Warsaw Sports Marketing Center. She lives in the Autzen/Chase neighborhood. Char grew up in Doylestown, PA and Cave Creek, AZ. She received a BA in Political Science and a minor in Hispanic Studies from Boston College. As a CommUniversity Assistant, Char wants to help bridge the gap between students and the Eugene community, and work to resolve hot button issues between the two groups. In the local community, Char is actively involved with the Junior League of Eugene, an international women's leadership and community service organization.
